Big Sur has my heart

and it always will.

There is something so magical and wonderful about the tall tall trees next to the crashing ocean waves.

We were so happy to be able to go this year. We pulled in minutes after the park opened for the year. We were also happy to drive into the park to see that it was barely touched by the wildfires last summer. You can read about that here.

Here are a few pictures I took of our favorite camping spot.

Alma and I both brought supplies to paint, and on a quiet, sunny afternoon while the guys were out hiking, we painted, and had so much fun!

Larry and Jesse made funny faces

I was so happy Larry brought his son,(seen below) who is such a kind hearted kid (except when he's throwing bugs in the fire..Larry..what's up with that..seriously?). When we were leaving, he was giving me a good bye hug and he rubbed my back, you know like an adult would.

Ahhh...until we meet again...I will be dreaming of you Big Sur.

Seize the day...and explore your world!

I don't know where all these 12x12 layouts are coming from?! I have always been an 81/2x11 single page (or smaller) kind of girl. However, when I went to Michaels a few weeks ago they were out of my smaller preference so I got the 12x12 with the understanding I would cut it down. Half a dozen pages later...I'm kind of liking the 12x12 format. Let's see how long that lasts! ; )

This double page layout is about a familiar path we walk a few times a day when we are at Pfeiffer Park. I used self adhesive cork for the Elsie inspired treasure map. This cork is freaking fantabulous! I picked up mine at my local Target.

The patterned paper and the other embellishments are from the friendly forest line by colorbok.

The flower on the upper right reads Cherished memories. Along the cork I wrote Seize the day... (in sharpie marker)

The bottom right I wrote ...and explore your world!

Journaling reads:

The path to the Homestead Cabin (among other places) is familiar and popular during the daylight. After dark however, it turns into a spooky adventure!

Can you stand another Big Sur Layout?!

Good! I have even more in my noggin that I will be creating soon!

Since getting the Friendly Forest line by colorbok last week, I have been dreaming of Big Sur daily. Ahhh...definitely a happy place.

I am debating on painting the heart so it's filled in....what do you think?

The four pictures were taken at Pfeiffer State Park in Big Sur, and I have some snapshots from our last trip to Pfeiffer Beach I'll be working on this coming week.....stay tuned for those layouts soon. Playing with these photos this weekend has really made me yearn to be there! Let's cross our fingers and pray there is NO mudslides this winter (from the fire last summer) so we can visit when the weather gets warmer!

This layout was partly inspired by this painting I did last year:

Painting Love Peace and Trees

Love, peace and trees...these are a few of my fav-o-rite things!

1 little layout

I popped into Michaels and stumbled upon a line by colorbok called Friendly Forest. It is so cute! Here is a quick layout I did when I got back today. (Names are blurred for privacy)
